Glass Beach is in MacKerricher State Park near Fort Bragg, California. Back in the 1900s residents used the beach as a dumping ground for their garbage. By 1967, there was so much garbage that the California State Water Resources Control Board shut down the beach and tried various clean up efforts over the years to help it. Mother Nature decided to lend a helping hand. The remaining glass got a thorough 30 year tumble, leaving behind these smooth, beautiful, colourful  pebbles. The result is a protected natural treasure for generations to enjoy.
